I am Alexis Jesús Zacatelco Juárez.
This blog talks about the environment.
The World
Earth Day 2024, celebrated on Monday, April 22nd, will mark its 54th edition
with the theme “Planet vs. Plastics.” This event will bring together the
request of hundreds of thousands of people to strengthen a global alliance to
act, innovate, and implement environmental protection measures c
Many
individuals will support this cause, but some will not take action despite its
importance. Governments and organizations will implement strategies to reduce
plastic waste, while others will not prioritize these changes immediately.
However, global awareness will continue to grow, and people will increasing.
Climate
change will be a major issue affecting much of the world in various ways, such
as:
- The
effects of climate change
- The
increase in global temperature
- The
melting of the poles
- The
rise in sea levels
- More
intense storms
- More
frequent droughts
- The
disappearance of species
- Malnutrition
in poorer populations
- Health
risks
- Poverty
and displacement
Human
activity will continue to be largely responsible for releasing greenhouse gases
like carbon dioxide and methane. Deforestation, as well as the pollution of
seas and rivers, will negatively impact the environment, causing the changes
mentioned above in climate patterns.
Evidence of Climate Change:
- Global warming will continue at
a rate not seen in the last 10,000 years.
- The influence of human activity
on climate change will no longer be just a theory but an established fact.
Some people
will acknowledge the urgency of climate change, but others will not take it
seriously. Governments and organizations will implement new policies to reduce
environmental damage, but some industries will not adapt quickly enough.
I recommend
visiting this page to gain some general perspective on environmental damage: https://ciencia.nasa.gov/cambio-climatico/evidencia/#:~:text=%C2%BFC%C3%B3mo%20sabemos%20que%20el%20cambio,la%20teor%C3%ADa%20al%20hecho%20establecido%22.&text=La%20informaci%C3%B3n%20cient%C3%ADfica%20extra%C3%ADda%20de,evidencia%20del%20calentamiento%20del%20planeta.
My opinion
regarding the measures that should be implemented to improve the environment
and reduce climate change damage is as follows:
Reducing Consumption: Small Changes for a Big Impact
In a world where excessive consumption will continue to harm the environment, adopting habits to reduce our ecological impact will be essential. Below are some simple and effective ways to reduce consumption in different aspects of daily life.
Reducing Energy Consumption
Turning off devices when not in use will prevent phantom energy consumption. Additionally, choosing alternative energy sources will be beneficial for the environment. However, some people will not make the effort to switch to greener energy options.
Reducing Water Consumption
Using water more responsibly will help conserve this vital resource. This will be possible by minimizing water use in every activity. Unfortunately, some individuals will not change their habits, leading to continued waste.
Reducing Plastic Consumption
Avoiding single-use plastics, using reusable bags, and preferring products with less plastic packaging will reduce pollution. However, some companies will still produce excessive plastic waste.
Reducing Paper Consumption
Avoiding disposable cups, using reusable or biodegradable cloths, and reusing paper for writing will decrease paper waste. Yet, not everyone will be willing to give up convenience for sustainability.
Reducing Chemical Consumption
Many common cleaning products will negatively impact water sources, but reducing their use will lower environmental damage. Choosing natural or eco-friendly alternatives will be a better option, although not everyone will adopt them.
Reducing Fuel Consumption
Using bicycles and other sustainable alternatives will decrease CO₂ emissions and traffic congestion. However, some people will not give up their dependence on cars, maintaining high fuel consumption.
Reducing Meat Consumption
Eating more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds will reduce meat consumption, lowering the ecological footprint and improving health. Still, some individuals will not be willing to change their diet.
Reducing Food Waste
Planning purchases and properly storing food will prevent unnecessary waste. Avoiding food disposal will be a key factor, though not everyone will practice mindful consumption.
Reducing Waste Generation
Separating trash, recycling whenever possible, and sharing unused items will help reduce waste. However, some communities will not have access to proper recycling systems.
Adopting these habits will not only benefit the environment but will also help you save money and improve your quality of life. Every small effort will make a difference!
